Paramount Christian Academy offers a Full Day Private Kindergarten Program. Our class size is 1 teacher to 14 students; almost half the size of a public school classroom setting. Our Kindergarten program starts at 8:30 am and ends at 3:00 pm. We offer extended care from 5:30 am – 8:30 am and 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm for an additional fee.
Paramount Christian Academy’s Kindergarten Program’s goal is to help you create an educated self-confident child who feels both love and respect for God, themselves, and others.
PCA has strategically chosen a combination of curriculum programs that will keep the students engaged and learning throughout our full day program. During the school day we will explore the following core subjects: Phonics, Writing, Reading, Math, Science, Music, Art, and Social Studies using the K5 level A Beka Curriculum. This curriculum program has proven to challenge each student, but is taught using effective and tested methods.
PCA is incorporating the Handwriting Without Tears writing program, in addition, to repetitive copy work for letter formation. This program enables the student to approach letters and numbers in a new way that can alleviate the frustration that comes with learning letter formation with a pencil and paper.
Our Kindergarten classroom will be implementing two additional language curriculum’s- Spanish and Sign Language. The Spanish curriculum is called Calico Spanish- Elementary School Spanish Curriculum. We will use stories, songs, simple phrases, activity sheets, etc; to introduce basic Spanish to the students.
The American Sign Language curriculum, Signing Time, uses the same natural methods to teach students words, phrases, and finger spellings for common words and situations.
PCA has a state of the art SMARTBoard, an interactive piece of technology, which allows students to use more than one sense to absorb new concepts and practice lessons. It also gives us the ability to pull from more than one media source, for example, if we are learning about the ocean, we can pull up live camera feed from the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California; so your child can see what life looks like under the water, while at the same time, writing a list of the animals they are seeing. If the students have questions the answer can be found in only a few moments and shown in video and/or picture form, as well as, being explained. The students will be able to see, touch, and in some cases, hear their lessons all at once. As their teacher, I will also have the ability to record lessons, so if your child is absent for a day and I can email you their assignments, which gives you the ability to work on it at home. I can also send emails of your child’s class assignments that we do during the day when using the SMARTBoard. Once your child is enrolled in the Kindergarten program you will have access to SMART Exchange and be able to download Kindergarten appropriate activities and use them at home.
To increase each child’s Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies awareness, along with allowing the students to gain computer skills, we will be using an online program called IXL in the classroom. Each student will have their own log in code and be able to complete lessons and play appropriate educational games at their own pace.
PCA understands the importance of Physical Education; therefore, we have chosen to make this a part of our daily routine, alternating with a music class. This portion of the day gives students a chance to try new physical activities and practice their fine and gross motor skills. PE has been linked to creating higher self-esteem and a better ability to focus. We will work on balance, flexibility, coordination, body, and spacial awareness using curriculum; from Spark PE programs.
